DC Cycles Ready for National Series Action After Strong Gosport Regional

The DC Cycles team headed to Gosport BMX Club for the Regional Championships as final preparation ahead of this weekend's British Cycling National Series (13th-14th June), and the whole team delivered outstanding performances across the board.

In the Cruiser ranks, Jose Burston proved that age is just a number. At 64 years young, Jose rode brilliantly to make the Cruiser final, continuing to show the determination and passion that make her such a valued member of the team.

Anita Wong, 54, continued her impressive form by taking 2nd place in the Women's Cruiser category. With an incredible 28 riders entered into the Women's 30+ Cruiser class at this weekend's National Series, the category is shaping up to be one of the most competitive and exciting to watch.

Lexi showed tremendous resilience throughout the day. Riding strongly despite carrying a knee injury, she looked increasingly confident until an unfortunate incident in Moto 3, where contact from another rider knocked her confidence. Despite the setback, she battled through to the final and finished 6th.

Hadley enjoyed an epic battle in the 15/16 Cruiser class, producing one of the rides of the day to secure 2nd place after a hard-fought final.

Layton had a fantastic day while double biking. He dominated the 13/14 Cruiser class to take the win before backing it up with an excellent 2nd place in the highly competitive Open 13 20-inch category.

Rudy enjoyed a strong day on home soil at Gosport. He remained unbeaten through the motos and qualifiers, setting the fastest lap of the day in Moto 2 and smashing his personal best by an impressive 1.5 seconds. Despite narrowly missing out in the final, Rudy finished a superb 2nd overall.

There was also plenty of humour from one of the team's veterans, who blamed a mysterious case of "stink concussion-confusion" on travelling in Denham's famously fragrant van. After winning his opening moto, a series of questionable race decisions followed, including slowing down after hearing a shout from behind and choosing to brake rather than ride over a fallen rider. Fortunately, medical experts believe a healthy dose of Lynx Africa and cheap aftershave should see a full recovery before the Nationals!

Elsewhere, Beni continued his excellent run of form, riding superbly throughout the day to secure 2nd place, with all the hard work on and off the bike clearly paying dividends. Oscar showed incredible speed all day and looked set for a big result before a mistake whilst running 2nd in the semi-final cost him a place in the final. The pace was certainly there, and he'll be one to watch this weekend.

To cap off a successful day for the team, one of DC Cycles' senior riders took the overall win, rounding off a fantastic weekend of racing.

With strong performances, personal bests, podium finishes and growing confidence throughout the squad, the entire DC Cycles team heads into the British Cycling National Series at Gosport on 13th–15th June full of momentum. From the youngest riders to the most experienced cruisers, the team is ready to roll and looking forward to taking on the country's best.

Come and join in the racing on Saturday and Sunday. More details can be found on the Gosport BMX website
